stream of conciousness

my thoughts manifest through words, pictures, and music

Something I’ve been trying to come to terms with lately, is that people don’t exist solely for your benefit. Now, I would never for a second consider myself self-centered and I’ve never believed that the worlds revolves around me, but I think it’s something that’s unconsciously ingrained in most people and we just act on it without thinking about it.
Deep down inside, I’ve realized that I’m a selfish person. I think most people are. You can’t survive in this world if you don’t think about yourself, and sometimes that means putting your own needs before other people. But that doesn’t seem like any way to live. You can’t just go around treating other people like they’re “other people” because they are human beings too, just like you. You can’t force someone to like you just like someone can’t force you to like them. Sometimes you have to think about it from the other person’s point of view, and you have to realize that, just because you’re not happy with whatever situation you’re in does not give you the right to make the other person unhappy.
Many people preach the importance of determination and persistence and perseverance, but sometimes it’s just as important to realize when it’s time to give up and walk away. Not just for your sake, but theirs.
